About the Session of the Council on Aviation and Airspace Use

On November 22, 2023 in the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) the Session of the Council on Aviation and Airspace Use (hereinafter – session, Council), which was attended by plenipotentiary representatives of the States Parties to the Agreement on Civil Aviation and Airspace Use of 1991 (hereinafter – Agreement) was held.

During the Session, the IAC Chairman, Oleg Storchevoy, reported to the Council on the results of the IAC's work in the current year and the Program of activities for 2024. Based on the results of the report of the IAC Chairperson, the Council gave instructions to finalize the draft documents developped by the IAC including the draft Rules of Procedure of the Council and draft revised Regulation on the IAC, and also agreed the development of draft new documents, which adoption is required by the provisions regulating the activities of the Council and the IAC. The Council also approved the initiative of the IAC interaction with a number of States and instructed the IAC Chairman to conduct negotiations with the competent authorities of these States, including on updating existing and, if necessary, conducting new cooperation agreements.  

The Council approved documents relating to the financing of IAC activities and participation of States parties to the Agreement on Civil Aviation and Airspace Use.

Based on the results of the reviewed materials and Programme activities of the IAC for 2024 the Council adopted the draft Agenda for the next Session of the Council, the date of which is set for April 11, 2024.
