IAC held the meeting of Air Navigation Coordinating Commission

On June 25-27, 2025, in St. Petersburg at the Saint-Petersburg State University of Civil Aviation named in honor of Air Chief Marshal of Aviation A.A. Novikov and the Institute of Radar Meteorology the 26th meeting of Air Navigation Coordinating Commission (ANCC) of the States Parties to the Agreement on Civil Aviation and Use of Airspace was held.

CCAN meeting was devoted to meteorological support for international air navigation. A regular meeting of the Working Group on meteorological support of civil aviation flights was also held.

The event was attended by more than 60 delegates from all States Parties to the Agreement, including representatives of aviation authorities, air navigation services, industry of Russia and Belarus, Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, educational institutions and hydrometeorological centers.

Opening the meeting, the rector of the State University of Civil Aviation named in honor of Air Chief Marshal of Aviation A.A. Novikov Yuri Mikhalchevsky noted the high importance of the issues discussed for aviation safety.

The Chairman of the Interstate Aviation Committee Oleg Storchev sent a greeting to the participants, in which he drew special attention to the need for regular work on the unification of meteorological support in accordance with ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices, creation of a single information space for the exchange of meteorological data between countries, implementation of technologies that use the advantages of artificial intelligence for data analysis, as well as the modernization of the personnel training system and the integration of new technologies into training programs.

In the framework of the meeting the results of long-term cooperation between concerned organizations in the field of meteorological support for civil aviation flights were summarized, and further steps to develop interaction between the IAC and stakeholders were identified. The participants were briefed on modern developments in the field of aviation and meteorology.

The participants of the meeting of the Air Navigation Coordinating Commission of the States Parties to the Agreement emphasized the high level of organization of the event. Based on its results, specific measures were proposed for the implementation of modern ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices in aviation meteorology activities, the implementation of which can be carried out on the basis of the IAC. The participants emphasized that the Interstate Aviation Committee remains a key platform for the development of methodological recommendations and regulatory documents.
