On 01.09.2018 at Sochi airdrome (RF), the accident with Boeing 737-800 VQ-BJI operated by UTair Airlines occurred. According to the available information, the aircraft overrun the RWY after the landing. The overlanding and the following ground fire resulted in the aircraft significant damage. Nobody was killed. The number of injured persons is TBD.

The Interstate Aviation Committee has appointed the Investigation team in accordance with the Russian Aviation Legislation. The Investigation team has started its work.

The Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) informs that the investigation team is investigating the Boeing 737-800 VQ-BJI aircraft accident at the accident site.

The investigation is conducted strictly in accordance with Annex 13 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation Standards and Recommended Practices. The Notification is sent to the NTSB (USA – State of the aircraft Design and Manufacture) and AAIB (United Kingdom – State of Registry, as the aircraft is registered at Bermuda).

The Investigation team is divided for three sub-teams, such as Operational, Engineering and Administrative, and several working groups, such as Meteo-, ATC, Airdrome, etc., to be responsible for the corresponding areas.

The Investigation team has completed the Wreckage Diagram drawing. The actions related to the aircraft and its fragments' evacuation are in process now.

The onboard recorders (see the photo below) are found at the accident site and transported to IAC Laboratory. Their condition is found satisfactory. The data downloading shown that the accident flight data is presented at both recordings (the FDR and CVR). The IAC experts started the data decoding and analyzing.

The Investigation team continues its work.
