About the ceremony of presenting the European Certificate for Ка-32А11ВС Russian helicopter

     On November 25, 2009 the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) jointly with European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) hold the ceremony of presenting European Certificate for Ка-32А11ВС Russian helicopter. This event marked the end of long-term joint work of Kamov company, IAC and EASA.
     The ceremony was attended by the heads of Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, IAC Aviation Register, EASA representatives, leaders of Russian Helicopters holding, JSC and Kamov company, heads research institutes of aviation industry and serial plants.   
      Presentations were made by Frederic Copigneux, EASA Deputy Certification Director, Mikheev S.V., Designer General of Kamov, Shinitov A.B., Director General of Russian Helicopters, JSC, Shapkin V.S, Director General of State Scientific Research Institute of Civil Aviation, Gorbunov Y.A., Director of Flight Research Institute named after M.M.Gromov, Mark Winstanley, head of certification project of Ка-32А11ВС. In their statements they emphasized exclusively coherent work within the framework of IAC-EASA Agreement on certification of Ка-32А11ВС helicopter in European Union. 
      Five years ago IAC and EASA signed Airworthiness Agreement. In this regard, receiving of European type Certificate for Ка-32А11ВС helicopter is one of the practical results of implementing the provisions of the Agreement. Previously in 2008, the European Certificates were received by Tu-204-120СE aircraft and Bе-103 amphibian.
      Receiving type Certificate for Ка-32А11ВС helcioter by Kamov company in EASA is a major achievement for machine building in the Russian Federation in general and fo Russian helicopter industry in particular. EASA type Certificate for Ка-32А11ВС helicopter is the first document of its kind received by Russian helicopter in European Union. It provides the sky of EU countries for Ка-32А11ВС helciopter removing restrictions for its application in civil aviation. 
      Before receiving EASA type Certificate Ка-32А11ВС were restrictedly used by EU countries on the basis of Specific Airworthiness Specification (SAS) for extinguishing fires and during high mounting of power transmission lines. 
      Previously, in 1998 Ка-32А11ВС helicopter with the participation of the IAC was certified in Canada where it is still in operation, successfully competing with the best foreign models of helicopters. Ка-32 helciopters of different modifications is successfully operated in Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, as well as outside Europe - in Canada, South Korea, Chile, Mexico, Taiwan, Japan, China, Papua New Guinea and other countries. In South Korea Ka-32 fleet increases 60 units - they are successfully used in "forest aviation" for extinguishing fires.
