About the meeting of ICAO-EUR Regional Expert Safety Team (IE REST)

     The first meeting of the ICAO-European Regional Expert Safety Team (IE-REST) with participation of experts from 20 countries of the world was completed in the Interstate Aviation Committee. 
      Vladimir Gorbunov - Regional Director in the field of Airbus company flight safety and Dan Stratan - manager of flight safety department of Civil Aviation Authority of the Republic of Moldova were unanimously elected as co-chairs of the meeting. 
      The deputy of the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Valery Mikhailovich Okulov opened the meeting.
      The ICAO North Atlantic office Secretariat presented the panel and task forces concept providing participation of a broad range of experts from different fields of civil aviation for development and implementation of initiatives on flight safety level upgrading, consolidation of aviation authorities, airlines, aircraft manufacturers, ATM services, international and regional organisations efforts.
      Within the framework of two-day Meeting the reports of the ICAO secretariat, ICAO, European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Boeing company were presented.
     Proposal on use of the ICAO mechanisms and methods in the field of collaborative regulatory efforts and expert activity in the field of initiative task forces was fully supported by participants and resulted in establishing task forces on aviation personnel training, RWY safety, flight data analysis and flight safety management, classification and analysis of flight safety data.  
     The following meeting is scheduled to take place in Kishinev on September 25-27, 2013.
