On 19-20 July 2016 an SMS/RWY Safety Seminar took place at the Interstate Aviation Committee Headquarters held within the framework of the ICAO/IAC Project ‘Development of Operations Safety and Continuing Airworthiness’ (RER/01/901).
The Seminar has been organized with the support of ICAO, IAC, Rosaviatsia (Russian CAA) and Airbus for CAAs’ and airports’ experts from the Member States of the Agreement on Civil Aviation and Use of Airspace.
Experts from ICAO, IAC, Rosaviatsia, FAA USA, Pulkovo Airport, Aeroflot airlines etc. actively participated in the Seminar.
The topics discussed at the Seminar were as follows:

ICAO activities on RWY safety;

New European and ICAO Provisions for aerodromes;

Requirements to the SMS of aerodrome operator;

Major elements of aerodrome SMS: safety performance indicators, Register of Hazards and Related Risks; safety culture; safety data base; wildlife control and ornithological flight support;

FAA regulative documents for Runway Safety Teams activity;
-
Operational problems of runway safety;
-
Methods and equipment to protect the runway.
In the course of the discussion the speakers answered attendees’ questions. The participants of the Seminar gave positive feedback about the organization and holding of the Seminar.
The Seminar was attended by over 180 representatives of CAAs and airports of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic and Russian Federation.
At the end of the Seminar the attendees were presented with certificates and CDs with the presentations.
