About the IAC delegation visit to the Republic of Tajikistan

On 9 March, 2017 the Interstate Aviation Committee delegation made a working visit to the Republic of Tajikistan where held a number of meetings with Minister of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan and head of aviation authority.

IAC and Tajikistan cooperation is based on the Interstate Agreement on Civil Aviation and Use of Airspace signed in 1991 by 12 states of post-soviet territory and has long-term, fruitful and constructive character. Minister of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan was informed about the results of 25-year IAC activity and prospects of further cooperation.

Parties emphasized with satisfaction that cooperation in the field of flight safety promotion in the region over the past years has reached a new quality level. Today the IAC cooperates with aviation authorities of Tajikistan in the field of accidents investigation and prevention, certification of aircraft equipment, airports and equipment, aviation medicine and aircraft security. The IAC activity within the framework of ICAO-IAC project on aircraft experts training in the region is increasing. Only in 2016 129 experts were trained for the Republic that also allowed Tajikistan to be audited by ICAO without strong remarks within the framework of the continuous monitoring program. 

Minister of Transport emphasized the IAC contribution to integration processes in the region, support of civil aviation development policy, support of air communication accessibility. High emphasis is placed on aviation in Tajikistan - passenger routes network is actively developing, airport new terminal was opened in Dushanbe, airline fleet is being updated.

Parties agreed on the need to enhance cooperation on the wide range of issues connected with flight safety promotion, assistance in implementation of the ICAO recommended Standards and Practices. IAC initiatives aimed at enhanced collaboration in the field of aviation personnel and inspectors training within the framework of the interstate aviation training cluster establishment project.

Discussing enhanced collaboration prospects the Parties agreed with advisability of the IAC Coordinating air transport council establishment from experts of the Member States of the Agreement for operational decision-making on issues of fair competition and tariff policy development, air transport network development, promotion of air transportation accessibility, increased competitiveness of civil aviation of Member States of the Agreement at the international level.

IAC delegation assured participants of the meetings that IAC will give top priority to issues of integration collaboration with states of our region in order to assist safe and sustainable development of civil aviation.
