On July 12-14, 2017 (Minsk, Belarus) specialists of the Interstate Aviation Committee and interdisciplinary Working Group on issues of medical support of civil aviation of CIS Member States took part in Sixth Pan European meeting held within Collaborative Arrangement for the Prevention and Management of Public Health Events in Civil Aviation (CAPSCA-EUR/6).
Event was organized by the Republic of Belarus, ICAO European and North Atlantic Office, WHO European Regional Office and Interstate Aviation Committee and was aimed at upgrading events to address coordination and harmonization of activities on prevention and management of threats to public health, counteraction of aviation and public health authorities in planning and preparedness for emergencies. Participants from more than 30 countries took part in the forum.
The IAC experts, as the coordinating body of the aviation authorities of the CIS Member States for the CAPSCA program, reported on coordination and interaction of health authorities and aviation authorities of the CIS member states to consolidate efforts in CAPSCA Programme implementation, including the decision of the Council for Cooperation in the field of public health of the CIS Member States (XXVII meeting, April 2017, Bishkek) to create an interdisciplinary Working Group related to this area of activity.
In addition to discussing strategic issues, the meeting's agenda included elements of training and information exchange regarding emergency response.
In order to train technical advisers of CAPSCA Member States, Minsk-2 National Airport demonstrated the potential for interdisciplinary coordination to prevent the introduction of highly dangerous infections and implement public health preparedness plans in civil aviation. Demonstration exercises on evacuation and assistance to passengers of aircraft in distress were carried out for CPASCA meeting participants on the training ground of the Institute for Retraining and Advanced Training of the University of Civil Defense of the Republic of Belarus.
