About the Workshop on the National Aviation Safety Plan (NASP) development

From 15 to 17 November 2022 Workshop on the National Aviation Safety Plan (NASP) development driving EUR RASP Implementation was held by ICAO, the Interstate Council on Aviation and Airspace Use (Interstate Council) and the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) within the framework of the ICAO-IAC Project “Development of Operational Safety and Continuing Airworthiness in the Member States of the Agreement”.

The participants of the workshop included specialists from the CAAs of the most States of the region- Members of the Interstate Agreement and representatives of a number of the ICAO EUR/NAT States.

The main objective of the workshop is to assist CAA specialists in the practical application of the ICAO documents related to the Global Aviation Safety Plan (Doc 10004, Doc 10131, Doc 10161) and the basic provisions of the European Regional Aviation Safety Plan (EUR-RASP) in the development of National Aviation Safety Plans.

During the workshop reports were presented on the following topics:

• Introduction to the Global Aviation Safety Plan (GASP);

• European Regional Aviation Safety Plan (EUR-RASP);

• Basic provisions of a National Aviation Safety Plan (NASP):

-Purpose of NASP;

-State’s strategic direction for management of aviation safety;

-National ops safety risks;

-Safety enhancement initiatives (SEIs) implementation monitoring methods.

In the course of the workshop special attention was given to practical exercises, during which the participants received tasks on the development of national aviation safety plans for the further application of the acquired knowledge in their professional activities.

The participants of the workshop noted the topicality of the presented reports and took an active part in the discussion of the issues related to the development of a National Aviation Safety Plan and emphasized the importance of the workshop for the development of the civil aviation in the region.
