About the conference on aircraft de-icing/anti-icing

On September 19, 2024, a conference on aircraft ground de-icing/anti-icing was held in the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC).

The Conference was attended by more than 100 aviation specialists from the States parties to the Agreement on Civil Aviation and Use of Airspace. Representatives of aviation authorities of the states of the region, airlines, airports, aircraft maintenance organizations, manufacturers of de-icing liquid, aviation training centers, as well as other aviation organizations discussed current issues of preparation for the upcoming autumn-winter period 2024-2025.

The following reports were presented to the conference participants:

- flight safety level in 2023-2024;

- testing of de-icing/anti-icing liquids;

- anti-icing fluid quality inspection procedures at anti-icing treatment enterprises;

- the work of the airlines association on quality inspection management of the aircraft de-icing/anti-icing and the results of the autumn-winter period 2023-2024;

- the main problems identified during audits and monitoring of aircraft de-icing/anti-icing liquids quality;

- features of the implementation of visual means of informing aircraft crews during de-icing/anti-icing;

- conducting inspections during aircraft de-icing/anti-icing.

The participants were also informed about the amendments developed by the IAC to the new edition of the Methodological Recommendations "Aircraft ground de-icing/anti-icing".

During the discussion, the issues of monitoring of aircraft de-icing/anti-icing liquids quality at airports, as well as state regulation of production activities for aircraft de-icing/anti-icing were emphasized.

The conference participants approved the submitted addendums and ammendments to the new edition of the Methodological Recommendations "Aircraft ground de-icing/anti-icing". The updated 10th edition of the Methodological Recommendations will be published on the IAC website in the near future.

During the Conference on aicraft ground de-icing/anti-icing, a constructive and practical dialogue of aviation specialists of the region took place at the IAC. Its participants emphasized the high efficiency of such events aimed at improving flight safety with the approach of autumn-winter navigation.
