About the participation of the IAC in events dedicated to the 115th anniversary of aviation medicine

On November 27-28, 2024, the Interstate Aviation Committee held the 42nd meeting of the IAC Coordinative Advisory Aeromedical Council (CAAC) on the "Problems of organizing interstate and interdepartmental interaction of the aviation medical support system of the States parties to the Agreement on Civil Aviation and Use of Airspace and ways to solve them." The event is timed to coincide with the 115th anniversary of aviation medicine and the anniversary of the Department of Aviation and Space Medicine of the Russian Medical Academy of Continuous Professional Education (RMANPO).

More than 70 specialists fr om Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan took part in the CAAC meeting. Representatives of civil, state and experimental aviation, ministries of health of these states, leading aviation companies and airports, scientific, educational, medical institutions and public organizations were among the participants.

The issues of harmonization and consolidation of efforts aimed at preserving and strengthening the health of aviation personnel, creating a barrier of preparedness and rapid response to emergencies of international importance within the framework of a single methodological field of the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States were considered.

The participants noted that new threats and emergencies in the field of public health can negatively affect the work of the aviation industry. In this regard, awareness, readiness to respond to them, training of aviation personnel and coordination of all necessary actions, improvement of the network interdepartmental structure in cooperation with the CAPSCA Program are necessary conditions for the formation of a unified strategy of states to prevent emergencies and threats in the field of public health in civil aviation.

Following the results of the CAAC meeting, a package of initiatives and measures has been formed that will be sent to the aviation authorities, public health authorities and other relevant national authorities of the States parties to the Agreement on Civil Aviation and Use of Airspace for information and further use in work. The materials of the CAAC are aimed at improving the medical support of civil aviation, the professional level of aviation doctors, and the preservation of the health of aviation specialists and passengers in order to improve flight safety.

The CAAC participants visited the IAC laboratory, wh ere they were familiarized with its technical capabilities in the investigation of aviation accidents with interest.

In addition, on November 29-30, 2024, CAAC specialists took part in the XI All-Russian Scientific-Practical Conference "Aviation Medicine: Past, Present and Future", dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the RMANPO.

Opening the conference, Konstantin Pashkov, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, noted the importance of transport medicine for public health, the need to coordinate the actions of the aviation community and health authorities. He emphasized that in civil aviation and other modes of transport, continuous improvement of the preparedness of States for emergency situations fr om the importation and spread of particularly dangerous infectious diseases, biological terrorism and other threats is required.

The conference examined the historical aspects of the 115-year-old activity of aviation medicine in Russia and the Commonwealth states, identified further prospects for its development, discussed the importance of maintaining health and the importance of the human factor in the professional activities of aviation specialists. The ways of solving the problems of aviation medical support, interdepartmental and interstate cooperation in matters of regulatory regulation are also outlined.

During the discussions, the participants emphasized the need to coordinate issues related to the improvement of the training system for aviation medicine specialists, consolidation and harmonization of regulatory documents for medical flight safety, work-rest routine for aviation personnel.

During these events, aviation medical specialists were able to exchange opinions, get acquainted with innovative methods of research, diagnosis and treatment. An industry exhibition was organized on the sidelines of the conference, wh ere participants got acquainted with the latest developments in medical and psychophysiological equipment.
