On the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Air Accident Investigation and Prevention"

The 32nd International Scientific and Practical Conference "Air Accident Investigation and Prevention" was held at the Interstate Aviation Committee.

The conference was held jointly by the IAC and the Society of Independent Air Accident Investigators and brought together more than 100 experts: aviation safety investigators and specialists, aviation authorities, air traffic services from CIS countries, airlines, research institutes, aircraft manufacturers, design bureaus, insurance companies, and accident and incident investigation agencies.

The conference was opened by IAC Chairman Oleg Storchevoy, who in his welcoming speech wished the participants success and noted: "Ensuring aviation safety is our shared priority, and a thorough, comprehensive, and independent investigation of air accidents and incidents is one of the fundamental conditions for the effectiveness of this work."

Over the two days of the conference, more than 40 presentations on aviation safety were heard. The work was divided into two sections: "Aviation Safety, Accident and Incident Investigations" and "Emergency Equipment Research."

The business program started with a presentation by IAC Advisor Vladimir Kofman on the history of the creation of the domestic system of independent air accident investigation, timed to coincide with the IAC's 35th anniversary, scheduled for December of this year.

At the first session, participants discussed current issues related to civil aviation safety in the CIS countries and reviewed the results of investigations into specific air accidents. Presentations were made by representatives of the IAC, Rosaviatsia, Society of Independent Air Accident Investigators, UTair Airlines, and Vnukovo International Airport. Particular attention was paid to accident investigation methods, aviation safety risk assessment, regulatory framework analysis, research into factors affecting safety, and the practice exchange in applying new investigation approaches.

The second section of the conference was devoted to the study of emergency equipment using specific air events as examples. Representatives of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Center for Research of the Air Force" of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Russian Aviation Register, and "Technodinamika", JSC presented their findings. The speakers shared the most interesting results of specialized studies of failed/destroyed fragments, components, and assemblies of aircraft and helicopters that they obtained during investigations of air incidents and accidents involving An-24RV RA-46625, Mi-8T RA-06145, RRJ-95LR-100 RA-89092, Mi-171A2 RA-22880, Embraer ERJ190 200LR, Mi-8MTV-1 RA 25558, Mi-8MTV-1 RA-25794, and other aircraft.

Experts presented the results of technical investigations of failures and damage to various aircraft systems, including engines and their components, hydraulic systems, fuel equipment, control systems, and other critical components. A detailed analysis of aircraft failures allows us to identify systemic problems and prevent the recurence of such situations. Each investigation is a step toward improving the reliability of air transport.

The conference became an important platform for sharing practice among specialists, wh ere experts had the opportunity to discuss current issues in civil aviation and identify solutions. The conference's results demonstrated that ensuring aviation safety requires a comprehensive approach and close cooperation among all members of the aviation community. The event emphasized the importance of continuously improving investigation methods, developing technical diagnostic tools, and strengthening professional ties among industry specialists.
