IAC and EEC discussed ways to strengthen the safety of civil aviation

On July 15, 2026, the Interstate Aviation Committee hosted a working meeting between IAC Chairman Oleg Storchevoy and Member of the Board (Minister) in charge of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission Arzybek Kozhoshev. The meeting focused on expanding cooperation in aviation safety and civil aviation development within EAEU and adjacent states.

Welcoming the EEC delegation, the IAC Chairman noted the importance of continuous information exchange and the development of common approaches to various civil aviation development issues: from aviation safety and air navigation to the development of new technologies and industry regulation. "I am confident that such a systematic approach will help us more effectively address pressing industry challenges and achieve specific, measurable results for the benefit of the countries in our region," Oleg Storchevoy emphasized.

"The EEC's primary function is to develop regulations for the EEC member states." "I believe it is right to pool our potential and work together to prepare unified documents. By doing so, we will make a significant contribution to aviation safety," the EEC Member (Minister) noted in his speech.

During the meeting, the parties discussed key areas of joint work. Particular attention was paid to the IAC Concept for the creation of a common information space – a unified environment for the exchange of aviation safety data, as well as accident and incident investigation. The creation of such a platform is intended to improve the responsiveness of responses to threats and ensure the transparency of analytical work in the region.

An important item on the agenda was the development of remotely piloted aircraft systems. The parties discussed prospects for the Committee's interaction with the EEC's advisory bodies, which will allow for the synchronization of approaches to regulating the growing segment of unmanned aircraft.

The parties confirmed plans to further develop cooperation between IAC and EEC and expressed a strong interest in expanding contacts, exchanging expertise, and jointly developing solutions on pressing industry issues.

Following the meeting, the IAC Chairman Oleg Storchevoy and EEC Member of the Board (Minister) in charge of Energy and Infrastructure Arzybek Kozhoshev signed an Implementation Plan for the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Interstate Aviation Committee for 2027-2029.

"We are moving in the same direction - toward ensuring the reliability and safety of air travel in the region," noted the meeting participants. "It is the combined efforts, mutual support, and coordinated actions of IAC and EEC that will enable us to achieve significant results and will guarantee the sustainable operation of civil aviation in EAEU."

The EEC delegation also got acquainted with the IAC laboratory complex, demonstrating the laboratory's technical capabilities using specific examples. Today, the IAC Laboratory is a high-tech, modern center of excellence for the Eurasian region in the fields of processing and analyzing flight recorder data, human factors research, and aviation safety technologies.
