On completion the Maintenance & Engineering Safety Awareness Seminar (MESAS)

Within the ICAO-IAC RER/01/901 Regional Project “Development of Operational Safety and Continuing Airworthiness” with the support of Airbus Company a two-day Maintenance & Engineering Safety Awareness Seminar (MESAS) was held on May 24-25, 2016, in the Interstate Aviation Committee. The Seminar was attended by over 100 aviation specialists from CAA and airlines from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

Presentations were made by IAC experts as well as by those from Airbus, VERITAS Moscow office, Air Astana, Aviator training centre.

During the Seminar the following topics were discussed:

-         Data sharing and communication;

-         MMEL, MEL;

-         MEL in practice & safety implication;

-         Lessons learnt from in-service maintenance practice;

-         Black market for tools & associated security issues;

-         Contribution of maintenance planning to safety;

-         Structural damage reporting & recording

-         Safety oversight and safety management systems in the field of Maintenance & Engineering;

-         Reporting & Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs) and associated challenges;

-         SMS Implementation at Aircraft Maintenance Training Organizations.

During the discussion speakers answered the questions from CAA and airlines representatives.

The participants expressed their wishes regarding topics of the future seminars.

At the end of the Seminar all attendees were given certificates and the materials of presentations on CDs.
