IAC hosted aircraft ground De-/Anti-icing Conference

On September 9, 2025, the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) hosted aircraft ground De-/Anti-icing Conference. 

The conference was attended by over 100 aviation specialists from the States Parties to the Agreement on Civil Aviation and Use of Airspace, including representatives of international organizations: International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), International Air Transport Association (IATA), Eurasian Economic Committee (EEC), and representatives of aviation authorities of the states in the region, airlines, airports, aircraft maintenance organizations, enterprises producing anti-icing fluids, and aviation training centers as well.

Traditionally, in anticipation of the autumn-winter navigation of 2025/2026, a constructive and practical dialogue of aviation specialists of the region took place at the IAC site, to whom reports were presented on the following topics:

- state of aviation safety;

- analysis of the procedure for conducting a study of the Holdover Time; 

- ensuring control and quality of the organization of aircraft anti-icing protection at airports; 

- procedures for quality control of products in de-/anti-icing processing enterprises; 

- using visual information tools for crews during de-/anti-icing protection; 

- features of using de-/anti-icing fluid on ethylene glycol and propylene glycol. 

The issues of quality management of aircraft de-/anti-icing at airports and monitoring the quality of this protection, as well as state regulation of production activities in this area were emphasized during the discussion. 

The conference approved the updated 11th edition of the Methodological Recommendations "Aircraft Ground De-/Anti-cing". The IAC representatives also informed about the Annexes and amendments to the new version of these methodological recommendations developed by the Committee.

The IAC discussion platform allowed experts to exchange best practices, problems and solutions in terms of ensuring De-/Anti-icing in their airlines and airports.

Aircraft Ground De-/Anti-icing Conference was held in a productive working atmosphere and was highly appreciated by the participants, who noted the effectiveness of such events in enhancing the state of aviation safety.
