The IAC Chairman took part in the meeting of the Public Council under the Federal Air Transport Agency

Aviation safety and provision of public services in civil aviation were the main topics of the meeting of the Public Council under the Federal Air Transport Agency.

The event was attended by Dmitry Yadrov, Head of the Federal Air Transport Agency, Oleg Storchevoy, Chairman of the Interstate Aviation Committee, and Vladimir Fonarev, Deputy Head of Rostransnadzor.

Analyzing absolute safety indicators of commercial civil aviation in Russia, it was noted at the meeting that 2025 is one of the best years over a ten-year period in the number of air accidents. Only 2019 recorded fewer accidents.

"We all certainly have work to do for ensuring aviation safety. The events of 2025 resulted in the suspension and revocation of air operator certificates for a number of companies. Based on the causes of each aviation event, appropriate preventative measures must be taken, and are being taken. Aviation safety has been, is, and will remain an unwavering priority for all participants in the air transport industry without exception," noted Dmitry Yadrov.

Federal Air Transport Agency provided relevant data on the state of aviation safety. In general, according to the Federal Air Transport Agency, Russia remains on global trend of aviation safety level, without demonstrating dangerous trends. Compared to last year, the number of accidents and fatal accidents in both commercial and general aviation (GA) has decreased, but the severity of the consequences of such events has increased.

The most significant impact on commercial aviation safety in 2016 - 2025 was caused by accidents such as controlled flight into terrain, emergency runway touchdowns, runway excursions, and loss of control in flight. For general aviation aircraft, the primary risk category includes events involving loss of control in flight.

At the end of the discussion members of the Public Council under the Federal Air Transport Agency noted that ensuring aviation safety remains a priority for all participants in the air transport industry.
