The accident with SA-341G "Gazelle" RA-1233G private helicopter occurred in the Galf of Finland, Primorsky area (Saint-Petersburg, RF) on September 19, 2014. According to the available information the pilot on board was killed, a passenger was injured. The rotorcraft was destroyed and sank.
The Interstate Aviation Committee has formed the Investigation team of the accident in accordance with the Russian Aviation Legislation. The Investigation team started its work.
The Investigation team of the Interstate Aviation Commitee has completed the investigation of the accident with SA-341G RA-1233G single-built private helicopter occurred in the Gulf of Finland water area on September 19, 2014.
Most probably the accident with SА-341G (FVSP) RA-1233G helicopter was caused by perceptual abberation of flight altitude by the pilot performing operation over the steel smooth water surface at low altitude (not more than 10 m) that resulted in uncontrolled descending followed by water collection. At the accident moment the pilot was in condition of alcohol intoxication (1,1 ‰) and fatigue after sleepless night.
