The accident involving Augusta-Bell 206B-3 RA-01630 private helicopter occurred near Yartcevo village, Krasnoyarsk Krai (RF) on September 24, 2016. According to the available information, the pilot and a passenger on board were killed, the rotorcraft was damaged.
The Interstate Aviation Committee has formed an Investigation team of the accident in accordance with the Russian Aviation Legislation. The Investigation team has started its work.
The Interstate Aviation Committee Investigation team has completed the investigation of the accident involving Agusta Bell-206 B3 RA-01630 private helicopter which occurred in the Krasnodarsky Krai (RF) on 24.09.2016.
The accident involving Agusta Bell-206 B3 RA-01630 helicopter occurred during an emergency landing due to in-flight engine shutdown caused by complete fuel depletion.
Most probably, the following factors contributed to the accident:
- neglection of the en-route wind conditions when calculating fuel required for the flight;
- late decisions on finding an appropriate landing site and on landing;
- the PIC's piloting errors during the emergency landing while switching to the windmilling mode after the engine shutdown.
Based on the investigation results appropriate safety recommendations have been developed.
