The accident involving Bell-429 RA-01617 helicopter owned by FLASH ENERGY, Ltd occurred near Ribatsky khutor, Aksaysky District, Rostov Region (RF) on January 1, 2016. According to the available information, the pilot and a passenger on board were seriously injured, the aircraft was destroyed.

The Interstate Aviation Committee has formed the Investigation team of this accident in accordance with the Russian Aviation Legislation. The Investigation team has started its work.

The Interstate Aviation Committee Investigation team has completed the investigation of the accident involving Bell-429 RA-01617 helicopter owned by Flash Energy, Ltd occurred in the Rostov Region (RF) on January 1, 2016.

The accident involving Bell-429 RA-01617 helicopter was caused by PIC decision to continue approah in inadequate VFR conditions (fog) that resulted in spatial disorientation, rotor overweight, uncontrolled right-handed rotation up to ground collision.

Appropriate safety recommendations based on the investigation results for enhancing flight safety were developed.
