According to the information received the accident with EC-120 RA-04049 private helicopter occurred in the area of "Rynda" landing place of the Murmansk region on July 21, 2013. According to the preliminary information the pilot was injured, three persons were killed, the rotorcraft was partially destroyed.
The Interstate Aviation Committee has formed the Investigation team of the accident in accordance with the Russian Aviation Legislation. The Investigation team started its work.
The Chairperson of the Investigation team of the fatal accident with ЕС 120В RA-04049 helicopter occured in the Murmansk region on July 21, 2013 reports that Investigation team completed the field phase of the investigation.
It is determined that during landing without engine cut-off after passengers deplaning the destruction of skid rear attachment resulted in helicopter roll-over on starboard and its movement followed by structure destruction. In order to determine the cause of skid rear attachment destruction the Investigation team is preparing to conduct special studies. Studies are planned to be carried out jointly with experts from France and Great-Britain - states participating in investigation on the basis of provisions of Annex 13 to Convention on International Civil Aviation.
The Investigation team of the Interstate Aviation Committee has completed the investigation of the accident with ЕС 120В RA-04049 private helicopter occurred on July 11, 2013.
Most probably the accident with ЕС 120В RA-04049 helicopter was caused by right roll hard touchdown resulted in off-design loading on right skid landing gear followed by helicopter roll-over.
Gear mechanical breakdown and helicopter roll-over resulted in fatal injuries of passengers evacuated the helicopter by the time of the accident.
The appropriate safety recommendations based on the investigation results were developed.
