On 07.11.2020 near Chkalovo village, Luberetsky district, Moscow region (RF) the accident involving Piper Sport RA-1381G single-built private aircraft occurred. According to the available information the pilot and a passenger on board were killed, the aircraft was burned down.
The Interstate Aviation Committee has formed an Investigation team. The Investigation team has started its work.
The IAC investigation team of the accident involving Piper Sport RA‑1381G single-built aircraft has completed its work at the accident site (near Chkalovo village, Luberetsky district, Moscow region, RF).
The Investigation team examined the accident site and made the wreckage maps. It is found that the aircraft was almost destroyed in the post-accident ground fire. The recovered airplane fragments were transferred to Myachkovo landing site to safe custody.
Regular onboard recorders (so-called black boxes) are not provided for this type of aircraft. A number of electronic devices which may contain information related to the accident flight were recovered from the accident site. The devices will be sent to the IAC laboratory for examinations. Appropriate sub-commissions and working groups have been formed.
The Investigation team continues its work.
The IAC Laboratory has completed examinations of electronic devices recovered from the accident site of Piper Sport RA-1381G single-built zircraft. The recovered electronic devices are not the onboard recorders and therefore, are not intended for accident investigation aims. In course of examinations it was found that under the high temperatures (fire) influence the printed boards and other elements of the electronic devices were completely lost with no possibility of the flight data readout.
The Investigation team continues its work.
The Investigator-in-Charge (IIC) of the accident involving Piper Sport RA‑1381G single-built aircraft informs that the Investigation team took the decision to conduct special engine examinations including the examinations of the fuel and oil systems' components, as well as the aircraft propeller. The examinations are necessary to assess the operability of these components in the accident flight, as well as to determine the causes of their possible failures.
