The non-fatal accident involving Robinson R-66 RA-1981G private helicopter occurred near Sidorenki village, Serpukhovsky District, Moscow Region (RF) on April 9, 2016.

The Interstate Aviation Committee has formed the Investigation team of the accident in accordance with the Russian Aviation Legislation. The Investigation team has started its work.

The Interstate Aviation Committee Investigation team has completed the investigation of the accident involving R-66 RA-1981G private helicopter occurred in the Moscow Region (RF) on April 9, 2016.

Most probably, the accident involving R-66 RA-1981G helicopter was caused by the PIC’s disproportionate control inputs while transitioning the rotorcraft into descent that resulted in a crucial main rotor RPM loss, the vertical speed of descent increase up to ≈ 11 m/s and the ground impact.

Appropriate safety recommendations based on the investigation results were developed.
