The accident with S-150 RA-1861G single-built private jet occurred in 25 km from Surgut a/p on January 18, 2015. According to the available information the PIC and the passenger on board were injured, the aircraft sustained substantial damage.
The Interstate Aviation Committee has assigned the Investigation team of this accident in accordance with the Russian Aviation Legislation. The Investigation team has started its work.
The Investigation team of the Interstate Aviation Committee has completed the investigation of the accident with «С-150» RA-1861G single-built private aircraft occurred in the Tyumen Region (RF) on January 18, 2015.
Most probably the accident with С-150 (FVSP) RA-1861G aircraft was caused by the pilot who failed to monitor altitude during snow showers encounter excluding possibility of visual control. Most probably trying to regain visual contact with ground cues the pilot performed descending operation. In whiteout conditions caused by snow showers and white ground of snow-covered lake the pilot could not correctly estimate the flight level that resulted in aircraft controlled flight into terrain of frozen water pond, aircraft destruction and people on board injuries...
Contributing factors to the accident were:
- inadequate analysis of meteorological conditions and overestimation by the pilot his capabilities to perform VFR flight in forecasted and actual conditions determined by the instructor pilot during the last proficiency check;
- incorrect pressure setting at altimeters;.
- aiming to perform prepaid flight operation.
The appropriate safety recommendations based on the investigation results were developed.
