«Yozhik» RA-0343G 24.09.2016

The accident with "Yozhik" RA-0343G single-built private aircraft (owned by "Istra Electromechanical plant" JSC) occurred in Ternovsky District of the Voronezh region on September 24, 2016. According to the available information the pilot on board was killed, the aircraft sustained substantial damage. 

The Interstate Aviation Committee has assigned the Investigation team of the accident in accordance with the Russian Aviation Legislation. The Investigation team has started its work.

The Interstate Aviation Committee has completed the investigation of the accident with "Yozhik" (FVSP) RA-0343G private aircraft occurred in the Voronezh Region (RF) on September 24, 2016.

Most probably the accident with "Yozhik" (FVSP) RA-0343G was caused by the low altitude stall due to the loss of speed during the emergency landing.

The emergency landing was needed because the engine had shut down in flight, most probably, due to the following failures: the destruction of the piston rings, the damage of the air impeller blades and the sticking of the exhaust valves. Each of these failures separately or together could result in an engine failure.

The contributing factor was the improper aircraft maintenance.

Appropriate safety recommendations based on the investigation results have been developed.
